I'm a college student in Flagstaff, Arizona. One day I opened my desk and came across my year-old camera. I was absolutely not getting my money's worth out of it, so I decided to do this: My "365 Project." One picture a day for a whole year, but since 2012 is a leap year, I had to make it 366. If you're here you probably know me. If you don't I'm glad you came across my project. Either way I hope you enjoy it.

Doorknob
This is obviously one of those pictures I took because I could think of nothing better for the day, but it's funny how much more you notice about a thing once you really look at it; I had never even noticed the scar on the edge of this doorknob, despite having used it hundreds of times.

Papers
I confess that I don't usually have this much paper on my desk, but I really like the way it looks. Lots of knowledge sitting there...

Science
So my roommate and I were out walking because neither of us had pictures for today. Walking past the back of the almost entirely dark Biological Sciences building we noticed this window and wondered what mad scientist was working away so late at night. Frankenstein?

Road
I went for a hike in Buffalo Park with some friends today, this path went off perpendicular to the one we took but I liked the way it looked curving into the distance.

Times
I took this mostly as a texture shot but in post-processing I was surprised how much color I noticed in the newspapers. My original idea had been for black and white but I like the way this turned out too; you can still tell what it is but it is also very colorful.

Imposing
Converging lines was the idea here, I think it would have worked better with a wider angle lens. I always found this hallway interesting though; long practically dead end hallway with double doors and the imposing but simple sign, indicating "Office of the Dean." I guess they want you to know you're seeing someone powerful.

Stuff
This is what happens when I empty my pockets at the end of the day. I'm a little amazed by how much stuff there is.

Jingles
This is a thing on North Campus at NAU. It has these little round dogtag things on it that jingle in the wind. It serves no practical purpose I can think of. Must be art...

Dominance
These are my two main picture-taking implements. The other one from the top three is the mediocre camera on my phone, not pictured because I had to take this with something. My favorite, if you couldn't guess, is the one on the left.+

Tracks
One of the benefits of the urban trails being mud is that you get this nice selection of different bike tracks on them.

Empty
Admittedly it is Friday night, but I was surprised to see NAU campus so empty. This picture was one I took to experiment with converging lines and darkness, that is the effect in it that I like: the way the lines come together in darkness but there are still lights in that direction.

Espresso
The thing about tiny cups for espresso is not that they look dainty, it is just so much easier to make sure you are making the right amount of coffee using them than a regular mug. On a side note: I think I need to add a label for random items in my dorm room that I took pictures of on uninspired days.

Stacked
Cline Library at NAU. I think this must be an anthropology section, but I was going for a stereotypical library picture.

Worn
My one and only... Actually no, there is another that is almost just like it. But they are well used.

Self
I thought some self-portraiture had a place in this project, since it is a record of this year of my life. I had to be a little creative, even though the effect isn't quite as dramatic as what I wanted. This mirror near the end of my hall in the dorm gives kind of an unplanned fun house effect that I wanted to capture, not sure how well it came through though.

Latch
Post processing this one was interesting, I bumped the contrast up a lot and I'm not sure how I like the effect. One thing I need to keep in mind is to change my ISO occasionally; it is usually set at 100 to keep noise down but when it is dark I need to push it up some.

Keys
Keys on a table in Starbucks. Late in the evening after a busy day, I realized I had taken no picture, and a friend had arranged her keys on the table. Ta-daaa.

Mansion
If you haven't seen it before, this is Riordan Mansion, which is hidden behind NAU's parking garage. I realized today that it seems like a great place for photography. I just liked this picture because aside from the power lines, you can't really see much to indicate that this is in a city.

Workspace
So here's a totally unremarkable picture but at least it gives some picture of my life. This is my desk at work, which as you can see I have redneck engineered (using scrap metal and duct tape) into a standing desk which my coworkers tell me looks somewhat post-apocalyptic. Surprisingly comfortable though...

Memory
So today was my day to catch up on uploading pictures. As you may see, I did keep up on my project, I just failed to keep everyone else updated. Since I was juggling so many of them around, I decided an SD memory card might be appropriate.

Star
Went out with the intention to photograph the moon, wasn't wild about any of those shots, so I ended up with this. Not particularly impressed with this one either, but I was playing around with composition and empty space.

Photographer
Post processing on this didn't go to well, I might need to play around with HDR sometime. This is my roommate Sean (who is also doing a 366 day project) on a hike we took with some other good friends to the top of Mars Hill. In spite of the view, we were pretty much surrounded by city, Flagstaff is just pretty good at burying itself in pine trees.

Jaws
For anyone who ever said that they would never see a close-up picture of the face of a giant dirigible shark, I now prove thee wrong! I have no idea why one of my coworkers brought this into the office, and apparently dirigible sharks do not float quite so effectively at 7,000 feet than at sea level, but there he hangs to this day.

Spork
Not that you can tell it's a spork from this picture... Another picture for my category of random objects in my dorm room that I picked up on days when I forgot to take pictures or neglected to have my camera with me all day. Nevertheless, I thought that a partially melted spork could be mildly interesting at the very least.

Almost!
This was the first day I ALMOST forgot to take a picture. I was getting into bed and my roommate asked me what my picture was for the day... and here it is. I admit I may have tampered with the time a little bit to increase the drama.
