Tube

Because no dorm room is complete without a cracked test tube that can no longer safely contain anything.

Another from my "Random Stuff in my Dorm Room" series, the biggest weakness of this picture is that it doesn't include the pencil that has taken me through my last year of high school and my first year and a half of college.

Nutshell

There was an excellent crop of pinyon nuts at Grand Canyon this year.  I like pinyon nuts.

Code

I took my first programming class this semester.  Nobody seems to believe me that it was my most fun class- and not because my other classes were bad.  This was about the most involved program I wrote all semester (you can't see all of it here, needless to say).

Repetition

I think I took the same picture that my roommate is taking here a few weeks ago... I think he might have been taking a picture of me at the time.

Scarf

Winter's coming, and scarves are important.

Cowboy

Truck drivers would probably love or hate that title, really it's just because of the "driving into the sunset."

Chase

After Thanksgiving my family went to the Flint Hills in Chase County, Kansas.  The experience finally convinced me that Kansas does have topography.

Pie

The most important part of Thanksgiving dinner: here you can see pumpkin, pecan, and pecan fudge varieties.

Seating

I spent the day on the train headed to Kansas for Thanksgiving, and didn't have my camera, and didn't take a picture until after dark.  That's my excuse.

Stuff

Not sure what this was all about.  I think I took about the same picture a few months ago and it wasn't any good then either.

Spark

My roommate and I lit a whole box of matches (my roommate's) (actually maybe more than a box) (I don't think you can put more than one parenthetical in a sentence at a time) and this was the best picture we came up with.  I learned that matches, even if they light correctly, don't actually start burning until a little while after you're done striking them, so it's a little difficult to get a good picture of one being lit.

Mismatch

This mismatch was something I walked past every day and failed to notice for a full two months.  Once I did notice it though, I had to get a picture.

Stairs

I'm not sure who decided to light this stairway the way that they did, but I walk by it every time I enter my dorm and it always looks to me like demons or zombies should be coming down it, it just creeps me out.

Box

I'm still not sure what it is, but there is something I love about old mailboxes.  This is NAU's main post office.  I would have taken a picture of my box, but it's around a corner and the lighting is terrible.

Gear

The door in my dorm room got a lot heavier after the first snow storm.  I'm sure when my roommate and I return from winter break in January it will get even worse.

ACC

I may have already posted a picture almost identical to this, but I spent so much time with it this semester that sometimes I forgot that there was a world beyond my accounting homework.

Nuke

This placement was definitely not accidental.

Post

These message boards always have something new on them.  I can't imagine actually going to them for information, but I like the way they look.  I wish I had taken this in daylight, but you may notice that during the semester, most of my pictures are in the evening when I'm not in class.

Snow

To be distinguished from yesterday's picture.  This was the first snow of the season, and though it didn't amount to much, it was exciting to see.

Rain

I think my dorm's parking lot was modeled after a bathtub.  I was hoping to get a little more definition on the ripples in the water, but it was so dark out that I had to use too long of an exposure and they were blurred.

Dangle

I think I hit this thing, if not the fan entirely, every time I put on my jacket.  I like the composition of the picture though, the perspective on the chain and the very narrow depth of field are interesting.

Notes

This was after a lecture I attended (on "Photography and Art" no less) where I decided that small notepads weren't good for anything.

Vote

This year was the first election I was old enough to vote in, so I wore this sticker proudly all day.

Bandana

This was taken while I was still playing Humans vs. Zombies, with much the same excuse that I used on November 3.  I do like this one better though.

Clip

They have these attached to the wall by every room in my residence hall.  I've never seen anything in them, so I can only guess that they have some ritual purpose that I'm not privy to.

Zombie

My excuse for this picture is that I was playing a campus-wide game at NAU called Humans vs. Zombies.  I can be identified as a zombie by the headband, and I was out hunting for humans to eat until midnight, and barely remembered to take this picture with my phone.

Perspective

As you might guess, this was taken with f/3.5 (the minimum my camera can do) with the camera sitting in the grass.  It reminds me a little of A Bug's Life.

Oreo

Not sure why I chose to immortalize one in this project, but Oreos are great...
