I'm a college student in Flagstaff, Arizona. One day I opened my desk and came across my year-old camera. I was absolutely not getting my money's worth out of it, so I decided to do this: My "365 Project." One picture a day for a whole year, but since 2012 is a leap year, I had to make it 366. If you're here you probably know me. If you don't I'm glad you came across my project. Either way I hope you enjoy it.

Ghoul
That tiny little pumpkin I carved (pictured in the post titled "Jack" from October 25) turned out to be a pretty good projector with a flashlight stuck through it. This particular projection is about as tall as me and I thought it was appropriately creepy for Halloween.

Power
I'm not entirely sure whose power this affects, and I've been too afraid to try. Seems strange though that they would place it behind an unlocked panel in a college dorm room.

Weight
This tire was the base for a post for a volleyball net in the courtyard of my dorm. Nobody played volleyball though apparently, since it was on its side all semester.

Heat
This diabolical looking contraption is the heater in my dorm room. As you can see, it involves a lot of fire. Why it doesn't set off the smoke alarm when unburnt bagels do is lost on me.

Boots
I think I've honored my footwear with posts at other times throughout this project, but footwear is very important. Without these boots... I'd be nowhere.

Jack
I'm going traditional this year apparently. It probably had more to do with the fact that this pumpkin is about the size of a baseball but it was still very fun to carve.

Spring
I spend a lot of time looking at this. Probably hours each week. It's the underside of my dear roommate's bed, since he has the top bunk due to space confinements in our room.

Ballot
Yes, this is my first election and I plan to vote. Feel old and be afraid.
Afterthought: I did fill out my ballot with black ink, not my No. 2 pencil, though I have strong feelings for that pencil, which has been with me since high school.

Stairwell
Not much explanation for this one, it's the stairwell up the side of NAU's new parking garage, which is providing me with an uncanny number of pictures.

Defense
So NAU Humans Vs. Zombies starts next week. I wish my blog was famous so that I could get paid for product placement, but this is my weapon. Until I turn into a zombie, then I'll just walk around trying to eat people.

Ranch
I wish I could make this bigger. It's on top of the mesa north of Lake Mary, where my roommate and I went on Saturday afternoon. I had been planning to drive all the way from Lake Mary to Walnut Canyon on forest roads, which almost turned a disastrous experience where I learned the clearance limitations of my truck. Regardless, I'm not sure that this was truly a ranch, but it certainly was an idyllic scene.

Restocked
I can't quite describe the joy of receiving a pound (in four varieties) of my uncle's fresh roasted coffee. I think I'll have to have my own little tasting party this weekend.

Stop
This is the Amtrak station in Albuquerque. It's the largest one between Kansas and Flagstaff, which is where I was riding it, so I had to get out, stretch my legs, and, as always, get a picture.
October 16, 2012
Pond
This would be called a pond in Arizona. I'm not sure what they call it in Kansas, but it's big enough to hold a reflection, so I had to take a picture of it.

Glass
This window looks a lot better when one part of it isn't completely blown out. It's in the back (or front) of First United Methodist Church in Wichita and is very impressive, especially when the light is more diffuse, rather than shining straight through like it is here.
October 14, 2012
River
This is one of the rivers running through Wichita. I've never been sure if this one was the Arkansas or the Little Arkansas, and I won't venture into the fight over how "Arkansas" is pronounced. It's not as remote as it looks here, there's just a park on the other side.

Kansas
Tossing the 'Rule of Thirds' to the wind (which is very strong in Kansas where this was taken), I like this picture because it looks like Kansas to me. When we drive out there to visit family this is what most of it looks like. Rolling almost hills and lots of sky.

Late
As much as this may look like a picture about drunk driving, it isn't. This is what happens when it's 10:30 pm and I realize that I haven't taken the day's picture yet. Unfortunately, stabilizing the camera against the roof of the car doesn't make the picture clearer.

Grandpa
My project lost one of its most devoted followers today. I will always associate him with tools and building things; he gave me my first tool set for Christmas one year and spent the next day showing me how to make what I'm sure was a relatively unimpressive boat toy with them. The memories (and, of course, tools) he gave me are still here though, in my first apologetically sentimental post of this project.

Treetop
I like to look at the trees during sunset and see them when they are only partially illuminated. This tree is right next to my residence hall, so the bottom is in shadow while the top is still in the sun, and I just had to get a picture with these fall colors.
October 9, 2012
Lights
The fact that nobody can turn off their front lights in my residence hall creates kind of an eerie effect early in the morning when nobody is around. This picture probably would have been more compelling if I had walked to the end of the row to get all of the lights in the row in the picture.

Watch
This was taken from the Grandview Watchtower. The watchtower is just south of the boundary for Grand Canyon National Park and gives a pretty good view of a lot of Northern Arizona, or at least the part of it that I'm familiar with. In the bottom of the picture you can see the cabin that the watch lives in during fire season.

Framed
This is the most dramatic difference I have noticed yet between what is in the viewfinder and the picture I end up with with this camera. The foliage framing the canyon was much thicker in the viewfinder than it appears here, I guess I don't pay too much attention to the edges of my pictures most of the time.

Firewood
This is the reason for me going home this weekend. I finally learned to use the chainsaw and we got enough wood cut to hopefully last my family for most of the winter.
October 5, 2012
Marbles
A big bag of glass marbles gave me an end product of about 15 pictures that I liked, it was tough to narrow down to this one, but I like the perspective and depth of field here.
October 4, 2012
Primed
This fire extinguisher is directly below the smoke alarm in my dorm room that goes off every time I toast a bagel. I guess if the toaster ever really does catch fire, I'll be prepared.
October 3, 2012
Backlight
Yellow leaves with what I'm guessing is a sulfur lamp make the world look yellow. If the leaves had been thicker I probably would have been happier with the backlighting effect on this picture.
October 2, 2012
Uniform
My roommate keeps getting increasingly intimidating uniforms as part of his Air Force ROTC activities. This is the latest.

Cracked
The tablet you may have seen in my picture from September 14 apparently does not live up to industry recommended drop durability.
