I'm a college student in Flagstaff, Arizona. One day I opened my desk and came across my year-old camera. I was absolutely not getting my money's worth out of it, so I decided to do this: My "365 Project." One picture a day for a whole year, but since 2012 is a leap year, I had to make it 366. If you're here you probably know me. If you don't I'm glad you came across my project. Either way I hope you enjoy it.

Fishing
After a weekend of doing nothing I had to get out, so I went to Lake Mary, a man-made tank east of Flagstaff. Since I don't seem to include many people in my pictures, I thought I'd include this one, I was happy with the framing, though I would have liked to be a little higher so that the people on the fishing boat wouldn't get lost so much in the brush by the lake.

Brush
Although the picture is unfortunately blurry, this is the most important paintbrush I have ever owned: I use it to dust coffee grounds off of my grinder so that no precious coffee is wasted. This is an important enough task that the brush merits a picture of its own.

Mirror
Mirror probably isn't the word for this, but I like concentric circles and unconventional self-portraiture. This is a handle on my roommate's closet door. The posters behind me are the Blues Brothers and Albert Einstein. Is that an odd pairing?

Lock
As long as I'm going to continue with my random stuff in my dorm room theme, I think I might as well experiment with framing. In this case, I was trying to see how a picture turns out when the frame is filled more than is usually recommended, but I don't think I'll try that effect again.

Unicycle
I have found much more opportunity to ride my unicycle around campus this semester (maybe I just don't have the appropriate sense of embarrassment now that I'm not a freshman). It's amusing to keep track of the things people say when they see it, most seem so dumbfounded that all they can think to say is "that's a unicyle!"

Dwarf
This was given to me in honor of the nearing holiday of Halloween. It is a very dwarf-like pumpkin that should be interesting to carve. I enjoyed disregarding the Rule of Thirds for this picture.

Reflection
This is in Locket Meadow, the campground at the base of the Inner Basin. My roommate and I spent the night here before we were driven back to civilization. I liked having the opportunity to take pictures with reflections, but this one turned out the best.

Basin
This was taken from Humphrey's Peak, the highest point in Arizona. The trees are in the Inner Basin of the San Francisco Peaks, where we were planning on camping. Unfortunately, camping is prohibited in the Inner Basin (which was not indicated on the map) and my roommate and I ended up hiking down to the end of the basin to be picked up.

Backpack
In preparation for a weekend backpacking trip (which almost turned out as planned) this was one of the configurations I tried for loading up my backpack, with was a birthday gift getting its first use.

Flame
I was hoping for something with some of the sparks from striking the lighter visible, but after thirty tries, I went with this, just because it had the nicest shape of the flame.

Layout
The most prominent building here is home, the brightest is the Student Union. The way the lights flare this picture kind of reminds me of a painstakingly detailed model layout because nothing really seems like it should be full size.

Glass
This is NAU's engineering building. It is directly across a quad from the business building where most of my classes are, so I see it daily. I might get a little jealous, since it looks nicer on the inside than the business building. I like the reflection on the windows, it's good enough to make me glad that I procrastinated on this picture.

Dial
I guess it's actually more of a gauge. Is this hot enough for grilling chicken? I'm not entirely sure, but it didn't kill me, so I guess it must be close enough.

Dorm
I forgot to bump down the ISO before taking this, and it still managed to be dark in spite of what was some very nice lighting in the sky. Regardless, this is looking across the courtyard of my dorm.

Change
When my roommate dumps out his change to count it, I have fun with aperture and depth of field. Evidence can be seen above.
September 14, 2012
Tablet
I was overjoyed to receive this and had it fully configured by about midnight the day I had received it. Since it was occupying most of my day I figured it was only appropriate to take a picture of it.
September 13, 2012
Vent
I took this to see what my camera does with perspective distortion. There were actually several pictures looking at this same vent from different angles to see what the changes were, but this was the most artistically pleasing from the series. You'll get an interesting effect if you scroll up and down rapidly over this one.

Sentinels
These rubber ducks are developing a special place for me, they're always watching over the dorm room. Some other common themes in this picture from my "random stuff in my dorm room" series last semester are the semi-melted red spork and the Murphy's Irish Stout souvenir glass that I usually use to drink cranberry juice.

Flutter
This was about a half second exposure of me dropping one of the accordion style stacks of post-it notes into my hand. It took about thirty pictures to get one with the effect I wanted, but here it is (or at least pretty close).

Threes
The (ahem) empty parking garage is becoming a popular subject for my photography. Once I get above floor two it's empty and even through I usually think I'm going to get a picture of something on campus from a higher angle, but this time I looked in. Looks like lines and repetition are the themes for this one.

Pilot
I had a hard time getting the flames to show up in this picture but I like the contrast that I ended up with.

Cheesecake
This is the cheesecake my mom made me for my birthday this year. It was magnificent, so I thought I'd share it (visually at least, I only gave people taste samples very reluctantly).

Friday
I don't know exactly what's going on in this picture, but that's what First Friday in Flagstaff is like. The focus draws your attention to one person in particular and although it was unintentional in this picture, it's an effect I would like to try to practice and use intentionally to draw focus in other pictures.

Guts
I spent a few weeks fixing someone's computer this month and these are the guts of a laptop. Not everything's there but it's more than most people see.
September 5, 2012
Ghost
I can't say I'm entirely sure what I was planning with this, it's my reflection against a tree outside my dorm room window.
September 4, 2012
Grass
Abusing perspective can be a lot of fun. Like making grass look bigger than a building, as in this picture. The building is NAU's Health center: the only building in Northern Arizona with an escalator!
September 3, 2012
Storm
I ran up to the top of the new NAU parking garage to get this picture of a summer storm advancing toward Flagstaff. The San Francisco Peaks are in the storm. The rectangular building in the bottom left is my residence hall. I will probably end up taking a few more pictures from this parking garage through the rest of my project, because it gives a different angle on a lot of things I've photographed before.
September 2, 2012
Rain
I love this one. I'm so happy with it that I didn't even crop it in post processing, just changed the exposure levels a bit to bring out the water droplets a bit.

Midway
I went with some friends to the Coconino County Fair this evening, but unfortunately forgot to bring my camera. A lot of the midway would have been fun to photograph, but taking an expensive camera on the gravitron might have been a bad idea anyway. This was taken of the scrambler while we were waiting in line for it.
