Bent

I admit I was a little let down by how this picture turned out.  This bent railing is on a building adjacent to my new dorm.  I walked by the building every time I went to my philosophy class last semester but I never got around to taking a picture of this railing, I thought it might make a more interesting subject than it did.

Stocked

One of the selling points of this dorm is the fact that every room has a full kitchen, so my roommate and I are, as pictured, fully stocked up on food to enjoy without leaving the safety of our apartment.

Cabinet

This is one of the dish cabinets in my dorm.  It looks like they've been through some interesting times.  You can't see it here, but one of them was apparently used as a whiteboard by someone who wanted to borrow a vacuum cleaner.  They were not intended to serve as whiteboards and the note is still visible.

Textbooks

These are my textbooks for the semester.  You can see plenty of gripping titles.  In addition, the untrained observer might never believe that this stack of books cost more than a decent computer.

Town

I take a different street when I walk downtown now, so it gives me a different perspective from which I'm sure you'll all see plenty of pictures.

Home

Well, this was the first night in the new dorm, and this is it.  Home sweet, cluttered, messy home.  It looked better once we'd finished settling in.  In front of the sink, you can observe my roommate's tripod, which he was using to do something creative for his 366 project.

Packing

This is nowhere near everything I took to college with me.  Not even close.  But I'm documenting part of the process of packing up here.  By the time I was done I couldn't see out the back window.

Disk

This is a top.  Or something.  I'm not entirely sure what.  It has pretty colors.

Clear

I think it had rained just before I took this picture, so the air was incredibly clear for the sunset.  It doesn't make for a great shot of the sun side of the event, but the lighting on the canyon looks great after a rainstorm.

Stetson

I'm pretty sure I've seen this picture before, taken by someone else, but I'm happy with the composition.  This is my brother's hat: he spent the summer working as an interpretive ranger at Grand Canyon this summer and left his hat on his desk, where it became fair game for photography.

Bed

I really took this because I was thinking how much I would be missing it soon.  My bed at home is much more comfortable than the ones at NAU.

Maintenance

This picture stinks. My desk is full.

Gardens

This was taken on the hike out from Phantom Ranch.  We started out of Phantom at around 4:00 am and had made it up to Indian Garden, the halfway point, by sunrise.  This is just below Indian Garden.

Phantom

This was taken as a series of probably around 20 pictures (hence the jagged edges) from the boat beach at Phantom Ranch.  I was there for work- turns out the government has computers that need to be fixed sometimes at the bottom of the Grand Canyon.  The bridge is commonly called Black Bridge and is how the Kaibab trail gets from the North to South rim.

Beauty

This directly follows the picture from the day before.  This is the switchroom after cleanup.  Isn't it pretty?

Disaster

So I had to do some organizing on these, because I unfortunately forgot to take a real picture the day after this and had to use some other documentation photography from this project.  In short, I was cleaning up this  needless to say disastrous switchroom for a work project and this is the before picture.

Or maybe it's a monster coming to eat YOU.

Coke

Well that's cheating... wasn't this a subject in one of my other pictures not too long ago?

Curlies

I like this one for some reason.  It's one of those curly-cues that I got drilling through some aluminium.  It probably would have been a better picture if I had cleaned off the surface I took it on though.

Tunnel

Okay, so this one's a little icky for no good reason, but this is looking through the box (that the rails on the truck go through, I don't know what the correct name would be) on the side of the dumpster outside my house.  Thought it would be a little more interesting than it actually was.

Tools

This was a project intended to be making boxes out of old palettes to organize my truck bed.  Looks at this point like it will turn out to just be a mess, but I like working with my tools so much sometimes that it is still entirely worth it.

KnickKnacks

This is that collection of stuff that I really don't know why I have, it just sits on my wall, but it is a good representation of some of the stranger phases of my life, namely: high school.

Spread

Some people might classify this picture as sad.  I, however, classify it as amazing.  I think the sentiment is wrong though; the focus should be on the Canyon, with acknowledgement of the fact that I can be accessing the internet on the rim of it as an afterthought, not the other way around.  Compositionally an uninspiring picture though.

Watering

Yay reflections!  No story here, I just really like this one for some reason.

Bench

This was one of those pictures where the lighting was just right when I ran to get the camera.  By the time I got back for the picture though, it was gone.  My family's back yard is a nice place to sit on summer evenings though.

Pin

Bad focus.  Sorry about that, really I was just going for another macro that I keep forgetting I can't do with this lens.

Hood

As far as raindrops go, I think this one is pretty okay.  It is the hood of my truck after a storm.  Of course I had cleaned it under a clear sky an hour before the storm started, so that was a little frustrating, but I got a good effect with the clean water once it had all stopped falling.

Wanted

This was about the first thing I did with creative photography after I got my first digital camera.  It's so faded now that you can hardly see my picture, but I'm a lot younger in it.  I thought it was fun to look back on though.

Pineapple

This one doesn't really do anything for me, I think the white balance is a little off and that is why it looks so green, or maybe it was just that I wasn't too motivated for pictures tonight.

Chimes

Just some reflections of sunlight.  With a small lens flare [ahem] to add effect.

Hotel

I spent the day working in Flagstaff with the whole intention of seeing the new Batman movie.  Being in town without access to my dorm, I ended up eating dinner in the bed of my truck, which I had parked across the street from this hotel, which is one of the supposedly haunted ones in Flagstaff.
